Wireless communication technologies have been evolving at a rapid pace
over the last few decades. Different types of wireless communication
networks (BAN, PAN, LAN, etc) are being deployed to address the needs
of all kinds of users. Evaluating the performance of wireless networks
and systems continues to be a critical activity in the design,
implementation, and deployment of emerging wireless technologies.
This workshop is intended to provide an international forum for scientists,
engineers, practitioners, network users to share their experiences, present
original ideas, report on state-of-the-art and in-progress research results
on the empirical performance of wireless communication technologies and
applications.

In contrast to many past and current workshops also covering the topic
of wireless networks, this event places special emphasis on empirical
performance results obtained on actual, physical wireless network
infrastructures, testbeds, networked hosts, and devices.  Performance
results obtained using only modeling, theoretical analysis or simulators
without a strong practical performance component are not appropriate for
this workshop.  We particularly welcome submissions that present experimental
performance evaluations of innovative wireless design/implementation prototype
architectures, systems, and applications. We hope that the contributions to
this workshop will help us better understand many of the practical performance
related issues that are likely to impact next generation wireless networks,
technologies, and applications.

Prospective authors are encouraged to submit full papers describing
original, previously unpublished, complete research, not currently
under review by another conference or journal, addressing state-of-the-art
research and development in all areas of performance and analysis of
wireless communication technologies, systems, and networks. Please use
the ACM SIG paper format (http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html).
Submissions must not exceed 6 pages in PDF, including tables and figures.
Submission of a paper implies that, should the paper be accepted, at least one
of the authors will register and present the paper at the conference.

Please submit papers directly to one of the

with "IWPAWN 2008 paper submission" in the subject line of the email.
Each submission must be accompanied by the following information: the

Publication
-----------

Accepted papers will be published by ACM Press, included in the
ACM Digital Library and indexed by EI. The proceedings of the workshop
will be available at the conference. At least one author (or co-author)
of an accepted paper must register for the conference for it to be
included in the conference proceedings. Extended versions of selected
papers will be considered for further publication in a
Special issue of an International Journal planned shortly after
the workshop.

Best Paper Award
----------------

One best paper award, selected by the organizing committee, based
on referee reviews, will be presented to the author(s) of the best
paper submitted to the workshop.

Technical Session:
  The  APNOMS  2008  proceedings  of  technical  session papers will be
published in  Springer  Lecture Notes in Computer Science series as done
in APNOMS 2007.  The  technical  papers  published  in  the  APNOMS 2008
proceedings will be EI-indexed.  Original  and unpublished technical and
innovation session papers are solicited.  All  submitted  papers  should
be written in English and should not  have  been  submitted  for  review
elsewhere. Authors  are  requested  to  submit  PDF file of the 10-page,
single-spaced  LNCS-style  manuscripts  for  technical  session  papers.
The LNCS guidelines can be obtained at

In  addition,  authors  of  the  best  five  APNOMS  2008 papers will be
invited  to  submit  extended  versions  for possible publication in the

  APNOMS 2008  will  include  innovation session to present and discuss

Innovation session will be  formed  with  short  presentations including

NTMS'2008 aims at fostering advances in the areas of New Technologies, Wireless Networks, Mobile Computing, Ad hoc and Ambient Networks, QoS, Network Security and E-commerce, to mention a few, and provides a dynamic forum for researchers, students and professionals to present their state-of the-art research and development in these interesting
areas. The event will be combined with tutorial sessions and workshops. Tutorials will precede the main program, aiming at the dissemination of mature knowledge and technology advances in the field. Two or more Workshops will immediately follow the main conference, offering the opportunity for a more focused exchange of ideas and presentation of on-going research relevant to selected topics.

NTMS'2008 will be held in Tangier, Morocco on the 5th-7th November 2008. This Conference is technically sponsored by IFIP TC6 WG and IEEE Morocco.

Authors are invited to submit high-quality papers describing original and previously unpublished contributions in the following three major categories:

1. Introduction to NCM conference

NCM stands for International Conference on Networked Computing and Advanced Information Management. It is a premium international conference on all areas related to the Theory, Development, Applications, Experiences, and Evaluation of Networked/Ubiquitous Computing and Advanced Information Management, that gathers fellow students, researchers, and practitioners from these areas.

NCM2008 builds on the success of previous workshops in this series (NMS: Networked Media and Services, HiNMS: High Performance NMS) held in Singapore, in Poland, in China, and in Korea.

The next NCM2008 will be held on September, 2008, Gyeongju, Republic of Korea. The conference proceeding will be published by IEEE CS Series. Selected papers will be included as revised monographs in the international journals.

2. Vision for future

NCM strives to maintain its status of a genuine high quality conference that gathers scholars and researchers all over the world. It is our hope to build solid foundation for further development of Networked Computing and Advanced Information Management. We believe that NCM conference will inspire and motivate scholars to pursue further research for the dynamic development of Information and Communication Technologies.

Network computing and Advanced Information Management are closely related to convergence technologies, and by organizing this conference we sincerely hope to support the further development of convergence technologies.

Moreover, we welcome diverse innovative ideas towards the development of convergence technologies. And with the help of this conference, we want to build sufficient ground for fulfillment of most brilliant and promising ideas for convergence information technologies. We hope that discussions fueled by this conference will enrich the participants with precious knowledge and experience. We anticipate that NCM will give enormous opportunity for exchange of ideas and establishment of new social ties between the conference participants.

Our mission is to facilitate meeting of the distinguished scholars and interested researchers from all around the world for exchange of knowledge and experience and presenting new ideas. We believe that global nature of our conference, active participation of most prominent speakers and delegates, cutting edge innovative ideas will create a stimulating atmosphere for further robust development of ubiquitous and convergence technologies.

Nowadays convergence penetrated various sectors of business in all dimensions, by which it triggers immense interest in the research and development of convergence information technologies. We believe that research in the field of Network computing and Advanced Information Management directly influences the development of convergence information and communication technologies. Thus we see our mission in enabling further staggering advances in the field of convergence information and communication technologies by holding this conference. CALL FOR PAPERS:
Nowadays, there is a clear steep growth in research interests in wireless
and mobile communication systems as an inexpensive and promising means for
ubiquitous communications. Mobile broadband wireless is an important
sub-area of this research, which focuses on enabling physical layer
technologies to support third generation as well as future broadband
mobile systems. Even though this sub-area holds
great promises for our future, there are several challenges that need to
be addressed.

This workshop focuses on all topics related to Broadband Wireless Internet

Wireless mesh networks are becoming promising communication technologies
for broadband wireless access by providing wireless backbone to mobile
devices over multi-hop wireless communication systems. This emerging
technology has a great potential for ubiquitous wireless network access
anywhere and anytime. A number of wireless networking and communication
technologies that support ubiquitous wireless services and applications
are currently in wide spread use. Wi-Fi and WiMax based wireless mesh
networks are examples of such technologies currently under deployment,
fostering broadband wireless network access and supporting different
communication ranges. While these technologies provide flexible
communication compared to wired networks and single hop communication
models, they are still restricted to the existing wireless backbone
coverage. The convergence of ubiquitous computing and networking with
wireless and mobile networking technologies opens a path to a promising
opportunity for ubiquitous wireless mesh networks and services. Indeed,
this provides a great potential for enabling ubiquitous wireless network
access in the next generation mobile networks. However, due to the
heterogeneous nature of networks, devices, and services, ubiquitous
multi-hop wireless access technology introduces new research challenges in
all areas of network protocol stack, including security, interoperability
and performance challenges. The aim of this special issue is to publish
state-of-the-art research results in the area of ubiquitous wireless mesh
networks, with focus on innovative architectures, networking protocols,
communication models, services and applications. Manuscripts relating to
these issues will be invited from researchers working in these areas
worldwide. Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited, to the

International Workshop on Security and Privacy in Enterprise Computing
in conjunction with the 12th IEEE International EDOC Conference 2008

Several technologies have emerged for enterprise computing. Workflows
are now widely adopted by industry and distributed workflows have been
a
topic of research for many years. Today, services are becoming the new
building blocks of enterprise systems and service-oriented
architectures
are combining them in a flexible and novel way. Business applications,
such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management
(SCM) and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) systems form the core
of enterprise systems. In addition, with wide adoption of e-commerce,
business analytics that exploits multiple, heterogeneous data sources
have become an important field. These technological trends are
accompanied by new business trends due to globalization that involve
innovative forms of collaborations such as virtual organizations.
Further, the increased speed of business requires IT systems to become
more flexible and highly dynamic.

All of these trends bring with them new challenges to the security and
privacy of enterprise computing. We are increasingly relying on IT
systems for our daily business including essential utilities such as
water and power. The traditional forms of computer security need to be
enhanced to address the distributed nature and multiple administrative
domains of conducting business. For example, algorithms for
incorporating the new business practices need to be identified for
access control. Similarly, data confidentiality cannot be provided on
the network layer anymore, it needs to be built into applications and
processes that span across various domains. The enhanced data sharing
calls for innovative algorithms and protocols. Novel cryptographic
techniques need to be developed and established ones evaluated for
industrial adoption. In addition to the security measures, this new
generation of distributed systems requires techniques for ensuring
compliance with regulations on governance and privacy of data,
including
those asserted by government and regulatory agencies.

New concepts for solving these challenges require the combination of
many disciplines from computer science and information systems, such as

cryptography, networking, distributed systems, process modeling and
design, access control, privacy etc. It is the goal of this workshop
to provide a forum for exchange of novel research in these areas among
the experts from academia and industry. Completed work as well as
research in progress is welcome, as we want to foster the exchange of
novel ideas and approaches.

Introduction

The 2008 International Symposium on Trusted Computing (TrustCom 2008), to be

The symposium proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society (will
be indexed by EI Compendex & ISTP). Manuscripts should be written in English
conforming to the IEEE standard conference format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column)
[http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/cscps/cps/cps_forms.html]. Manuscripts
should be submitted through the paper submission system at the symposium
website [http://trust.csu.edu.cn/conference/trustcom2008/submission]. Each
accepted paper is limited to 6 pages (or 8 pages with over length charge).
Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be published in a special
issue of Wiley journal: Security and Communication Networks

select one winner for the Best Paper Award for the symposium. Submission of a
paper should be regarded as a commitment such that, if accepted, at least one
author of the paper will register and attend the symposium; otherwise, it will

Overview:
=========
HPN2008, the International Workshop on High Performance Network, will
be held from 18 to 20, Oct. 2008. Shanghai is China's largest city.
HPN2008 serves as a forum for researchers and engineers to discuss
current challenges in high performance network and to present recent
work and research results.

Current network communications face the challenges of the limited
network resources, ever-increasing traffic,etc. The continuous
technological advances are expected to make network performance better.
This workshop will focus on various aspects of high performance network.
For instance, network coding hasemerged as an active research area
which reveals that packets traversing a network can be combined and
mixed rather than merely forwarded.

Paper submission:

Submitted papers must be unpublished and must not be currently under
review for any other journal or conference publication.Papers must be
clearly presented in English, must not exceed 8 pages. We recommend

Scope and Overview:

ACM/IEEE MSWiM 2008 is the Eleventh Annual International Symposium on
Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems.
MSWiM is an international forum dedicated to high level discussion
of Wireless and Mobile systems, networks, algorithms and applications,
with an emphasis on rigorous performance evaluation.

MSWiM is a highly selective conference that is recognized as one of
the most prestigious sources of innovative ideas and breakthroughs
in the field. MSWiM 2008 will be held October 22 to 26, 2008,
in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada.

Authors are encouraged to submit full papers presenting new research
related to the theory or practice of all aspects of modeling, analysis
and simulation of mobile and wireless systems. Submitted papers must
not have been published elsewhere nor currently be under review by
another conference or journal.

Dear Colleagues,

 

Special Issue of the Telecommunication Systems on Cross Layer Design for Cognitive Networks

 

Theme

Cognitive wireless access networks interact and respond to requests of a specific user by dynamically altering their
topologies and/or operational parameters to enforce regulatory policies and optimize overall network performance. A
cognitive infrastructure consists of intelligent management and reconfigurable elements that can progressively evolve the
policies based on their past actions. A new paradigm is then needed for designing protocols in such environments and can
be characterized by cross-layer designs and adaptation approaches. This special issue will focus on a range of Cross Layer
related topics including QoS, mobility, security, business models, wireless link adaptation and novel services and
applications deployed over Cognitive Networks. In addition, the role played by the IP Multimedia Sub-layer (IMS) in
Cognitive Networks should also be carefully examined and studied.

The Journal of Network and Computer Applications welcomes research contributions, surveys and notes in all areas relating to computer networks and applications thereof. The following list of sample-topics is by no means to be understood as restricting contributions to the topics mentioned:

CALL FOR PAPERS

Sensor nodes are tiny autonomous devices that combine sensing, computing and wireless communication capabilities. These nodes are deeply embedded into the physical surroundings, and gather and process information such as temperature, humidity, light characteristics, seismic activities or images and sound samples from the physical world. Networked systems of such sensors are expected to be used in a variety of applications including habitat monitoring, precision agriculture, disaster recovery operations, healthcare and supply chain management. Real-world sensor network deployments and prototypic implementations are still not commonplace. However, experiences gained in such deployments are crucial for the sensor network research community. These results are needed to refine assumptions made when designing hardware, software, protocols and mechanisms for sensor networks.

This workshop aims at bringing together researchers from academia and industry to showcase their work and obtain feedback. We expect the workshop to act as a forum for the sensor network research community to discuss open issues, novel solutions and the future development of wireless sensor networks in general. We encourage contributions describing innovative work in the realm of wireless sensor networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Experiences from real-world sensor network deployment and applications
Innovative sensor network applications
Middleware support for sensor networks
Programming and debugging sensor networks
Security, availability and dependability issues in sensor networks
Experiences with new sensor hardware
Practical problems in implementing localization and time synchronization
Experiences with communication protocols
Practical medium access control protocols (MACs)
Topology control and routing protocols in existing sensor network deployments
Fault-tolerance and troubleshooting sensor networks
Antenna design and experiences with signal propagation
Experiences regarding energy management and network lifetime
Configuration and installation support
Management of large-scale sensor networks
Interconnection between IP and sensor networks

Submitted papers will be reviewed by three independent experts in the field. Proceedings of the workshop will be published together with those of IEEE LCN, and will be available in digital format from the IEEE Explore Digital Library.

SUBMISSION:

FULL PAPERS: Authors are invited to submit original unpublished work, not currently under review by another conference, workshop or journal. Full papers should be restricted to 8 camera-ready pages (in 10 pt font, double column, US letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches, IEEE format), including text, figures and references. Authors should use only standard fonts, i.e. Times Roman, Courier, Symbol, Helvetica or equivalent.

POSTER/DEMOS: Poster papers are an opportunity to present initial results and obtain feedback on on-going research. We also welcome submissions for demonstrations that showcase original research, practical implementations and realistic applications of wireless sensor networks. Poster/demo papers must be restricted to 2 camera-ready pages (in 10 pt font, double column, US letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches, IEEE format), including text, figures and references.

Papers must be submitted electronically via EDAS. All papers must include title, complete contact information of all authors, abstract and up to 5 keywords on the cover page.
