Wireless sensor and actor networks (WSAN) are the confluence point
where the traditional fields of wireless sensor networks (WSN),
robot networks and control theory meet. In WSAN, nodes collaborate
to accomplish distributed sensing and actuation tasks. Leveraged by
the control and mobility of actors, the networking process and
applications embrace a whole new set of possibilities. Actors may
deploy, repair and relocate sensors to improve coverage, build routes
and fix network partition to ensure data communication, change network
topology to shape routing patterns and balance energy consumption,
and respond to reported events in a timely and effective manner.
The benefits are limited only by imagination. As an emerging field,
WSAN are in need of new networking techniques, by which they can fully
exploit their particularities and potentials. WiSARN aims to bring
together state-of-the-art contributions on the design, specification
and implementation of architectures, algorithms and protocols for
current and future applications of WSAN.

Original, unpublished contributions are solicited in ALL aspects of
WSAN, WSN, robot networks, and robotics and automation. Possible topics
include, but are not limited to:

of Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks: an international journal.

Introduction
Satisfying user requirements for trust, security and privacy in an
efficient way is one of the first considerations for almost all emerging
applications, using emerging technologies such as pervasive computing,
peer to peer computing, grid computing, cloud computing, virtualization
and, mobile and wireless technologies. Challenges arise as emerging
applications evolve to provide more scalable and comprehensive services.
One of the biggest challenges is that traditional security technologies
and measures may not meet user requirements in open, dynamic,
heterogeneous, and distributed computing environments. Therefore, we need
to build networks and systems in which emerging applications allow users
to enjoy more scalable and comprehensive services while preserving trust,
security and privacy at the same time.

Following the success of TSP 2008 in Shanghai, China during December
17-20, 2008, and TSP-09 in Macau SAR, China, during October 12-14, 2009,
"The Third IEEE International Symposium on Trust, Security and Privacy for
Emerging Applications (TSP-10)" will be held in Bradford, UK, during June
29-July 1, 2010, in conjunction with "The 10th IEEE International
Conference on Computer and Information Technology (CIT 2010)", aims at
bringing together researchers and practitioners in the world working on
trust, security, privacy, and related issues such as technical, social,
and cultural implications for all emerging devices, services,
applications, networks, and systems, and providing a forum for them to
present and discuss emerging ideas and trends in this highly challenging
research area.

Scope and Interests
TSP-10 is an international forum for presenting and discussing emerging
ideas and trends in trust, security and privacy for emerging applications
from both the research community as well as the industry. Topics of
interest include, but are not limited to:

Submission and Publication Information
The accepted papers from this symposium will be published by IEEE Computer
Society in IEEE CIT-10 proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP).
Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard
conference format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted
through the paper submission system at the symposium website. Each paper
is limited to 6 pages (or 8 pages with over length charge). Distinguished
papers, after further revisions, will be published in a special issue of
"Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience" (Wiley) to be
indexed by both SCI and EI. The program committee will select one winner
for the Best Paper Award for this symposium. Submitting a paper to the
symposium means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should
attend the symposium and present the paper. For no-show authors, their
papers will be removed from the digital library after the symposium and
their affiliations will be notified.

Past Special Issues: Based on the papers published in TSP-2008
proceedings, we have successfully applied for a Special Issue in "IEICE
Transactions on Information and Systems" (indexed by SCI and EI). Based on
the papers published in TSP-2009 proceedings, we also have successfully

The two seemingly distinct topics of E2NETS are very important for overall
energy efficiency in the future. Instead of looking at them separately, it
is
useful to arrange a venue for the researchers and practitioners in these two
fields to come together and interact. This workshop aims to build this
cooperation. Energy Efficiency in Wireless Networks: According to the GESI
study, the ICT sector contributes around two per cent of global greenhouse
gas
(CHG) emissions. To increase the competitiveness, energy efficiency (E2)
must
also be a design criterion of the network and service architectures.
Flexible
networks that adapt their capacity to the requirements can lead to
significant
energy savings. Novel networking paradigms need to be introduced to assure
that
all components are used with maximum utilization. Green network
architectures
will be the cross-layer, cognitive and cooperative aggregation of techniques
and mechanisms to provide a communication infrastructure where the energy
consumption is minimized while guaranteeing the quality/grade of service
required by the applications. Along with energy efficiency, spectrum
utilization is to be optimized and radiation is to be minimized. Green
networking is not only the evolution of legacy networking paradigms but also
the revolution of the visionary hybrid networks which is the convergence of
the
heterogeneous wired, wireless and ad hoc networks. In this workshop, the
following topics of energy efficiency in wireless networks are considered:
* Physical layer techniques, channel/network coding for energy efficiency.
* Methodologies /architectures for energy efficiency.
* Energy-efficiency measures.
* Energy-efficient flooding/multicast for service discovery.
* Collaborative/cooperative/cognitive networking protocols for energy
efficiency.
* Algorithms for scheduling and resource management.
* Energy harvesting.
* Cooperative green communications for energy efficiency.
* User mobility modeling to predict and adapt to patterns.
* Hybrid fibre-wireless networks for energy-efficient delivery of wireless
signals.

Wireless Networks for Energy Efficiency: To address the other 98 per cent of
the
global CHG emissions, wireless networks can be used to reduce the energy
consumption of industrial/home/office environments/applications. For
example,
along with the research in low-carbon road transportation technologies,
wireless networks can be employed to analyze the traffic jams and help
navigators to find a suitable route leading to energy savings. To this
extent,
in this workshop the topics of wireless networks for energy efficiency
consist
of:
* ICT for minimization of the energy consumption of other systems such as
transportation, houses, offices and industrial buildings.
* Energy efficient cloud computing, smart grids and emerging applications.
* Sensor networks for energy efficiency in industrial/harsh environments.
* Vehicular networks to reduce the CHG emissions.
* New designs of equipments/architectures for energy efficiency.
* Energy efficient virtualization of resources.

Accepted workshop papers will be available on the IEEE eXplore database and
included in the CD proceedings of the IEEE ICC 2010.

What is different?

The format of the workshop consists of four sessions three of which will be
dedicated to presentation sessions and posters. The remaining session will
be
slightly different from the usual chores such as panel or keynote. Here we
have
identified clearly two important groups, E2 in Wireless Networks and
Wireless
Networks for E2, which are interconnected and interrelated. Both have been
currently looked into ýntensively, not only by researchers, but also by the
industry. The recent trend is that the governments of various countries have
started seriously encouraging ICT community participation in reducing the
energy consumption, as well as energy wastage. Surely this has to be taken
into
account by the ICT community.

The pool of participants, including authors of papers, will be divided into
the
two groups, the E2 in Wireless Networks and Wireless Networks for E2. These
two
groups headed by senior academician/industrialist will hold separate
discussions for 45 min. The mandate is to come up with a list of research
ideas, as well as implementation strategies for the topics of their group.
Then
they will present their ideas and discuss for the next 45 minutes with all
of
the participants.

This strategy should help in identifying issues quickly in a larger
perspective.
It is expected to help academics, industry and policy makers to quickly
crystallize thoughts and work towards the important challenges and optimize
their resources for this important challenge for future generations to come.
It
is also expected that after the discussions the two groups bring forth a
list
of ideas for future project proposals. We will encourage the participants to
team up and work together for their future proposals. The by-product of this
exercise is that convergence of these two seemingly separate trends will
start
cooperation with each other.

Wireless communications are becoming increasingly pervasive, as the number
and spreading of portable wireless-equipped devices are exponentially
increasing (ranging from smartphones to handheld game consoles, from
personal digital assistant and personal navigation devices to still and
video cameras). This results in an unprecedented request for lightweight,
wireless communication devices with excellent usability and performance as
well as the ability to support added-value services in a highly mobile
environment - following the user everywhere he goes (at work, at home, while
travelling, in a classroom, etc.). Besides attractive business opportunities
this opens up exciting research and development areas. This scenario clearly
demands significant upgrades to the existing communication paradigm in terms
of infrastructure, devices and services to support the ANYTIME, ANYWHERE,
ANY DEVICE philosophy, introducing novel and fast-evolving requirements and
expectations on research and development in the field of information and
communication technologies. The core issue is to support wireless users'
desire of 24/7 reliable network availability and transparent access to
"their own" personalized services. In this framework and motivated by the
interdisciplinary competences needed to build successful lightweight
wireless systems, the MOBILIGHT conference will provide an international
forum where practitioners and researchers coming from the diverse areas
involved in lightweight wireless systems design and deployment will be able
to interact and exchange experiences, and thus realize cross-fertilization

SPECIAL ISSUE ON: Security Challenges in Emerging and Next-Generation Wireless Communication Networks

Wireless network technologies are undergoing rapid advancements. Researchers are currently envisioning different attractive properties of wireless systems such as the ability to self-organize, self-configure, self-heal, self-manage and self-maintain. Different wireless networks having the potential to offer cost-effective home and enterprise access networking solutions are being researched. Concepts such as dynamic spectrum access, convergence, unified network architectures and seamless service access in heterogeneous networks are gaining widespread popularity. Technologies such as Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs), WiFi, WiMAX, Bluetooth, ZigBee, RFID, IEEE 802.20, IEEE 802.22 and software defined radio are becoming increasingly popular. Even though these technologies hold great promises for our future, there are several research challenges that need to be addressed. A significant portion of these research challenges are attributed to security and privacy
issues in these kinds of networks. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), in their various shapes and forms,
have greatly facilitated and enhanced the automated, remote, and
intelligent monitoring of a large variety of physical systems.
These networks consist of a large number of typically small devices,
each incorporating sensing, processing, and wireless communications
capabilities. Their use has penetrated a plethora of application
domains from industrial and building automation, to environmental,
wildlife, and health monitoring.

The control and systems community has played an important role
in the maturing of WSNs addressing issues related to their
fundamental limits and designing strategies to optimize and
control their operation so as to improve performance. Performance
encompasses a variety of metrics that may vary with the application
but in all cases includes the network's energy use which determines
its usable lifetime. As WSN nodes are powered by small batteries,
energy conservation has become a very important concern. Equally
importantly, the existence of WSNs has provided a major application
context to theoretical contributions of the control community including
cooperative and distributed control, event-based monitoring, discrete-
event systems, and consensus algorithms.

What is emerging as the next step in the WSN evolution is their use
not only in monitoring but also in controlling a physical system.
To that end, some of the WSN nodes have to be augmented by integrating
actuators. Actuators can be simple devices programmed to take
immediate, one-shot, action in response to sensory input, or they can
be more sophisticated entities (like robots) that interact with their
environment in more complex ways. The resulting augmented version of
WSNs is commonly referred to as Wireless Sensor and Actuator Networks
(WSANs). WSANs are therefore heterogeneous networks that comprise of
networked sensor and actuator nodes that communicate among each other
using wireless links to perform distributed sensing and actuation tasks.

WSANs can be used to close loops over the network in a variety of
applications, such as, environmental control, event detection and
suppression, home automation, manufacturing, microclimate control,
surveillance etc. The control community has recently made important
contributions in understanding control over communication channels but
this work has, for the most part, abstracted the communication medium.
A new challenge is to consider a WSAN as the communications channel
over which we seek to close control loops.

The topics relevant to this special issue include but are not limited to:

< Autonomous sensor networks
< Co-design of communication protocols and control strategies
< Architectural, modeling and simulation of WSANs
< Autonomic and self-organizing coordination and communication
< Sensor-actuator and actuator-actuator coordination
< Distributed control in sensor-actuator networks
< Biologically inspired communication in WSANs
< Applications and prototypes.

Submission Details:

All papers submitted to the special issue will be subject to peer
review in accordance with the established practices of the IEEE
Transactions on Automatic Control. Papers that do not fall within the
scope of the special issue will be returned to the authors without
review, to enable them to submit them as regular papers through the
normal channels.

Authors are invited to submit their manuscripts to either one of the
guest editors. The manuscript format should follow the guidelines

Introduction
Satisfying user requirements for trust, security and privacy in an efficient way is one of the first considerations for almost all emerging
applications, using emerging technologies such as pervasive computing, peer to peer computing, grid computing, cloud computing, virtualization and,
mobile and wireless technologies. Challenges arise as emerging applications evolve to provide more scalable and comprehensive services. One of the
biggest challenges is that traditional security technologies and measures may not meet user requirements in open, dynamic, heterogeneous, and
distributed computing environments. Therefore, we need to build networks and systems in which emerging applications allow users to enjoy more scalable
and comprehensive services while preserving trust, security and privacy at the same time.

Following the success of TSP 2008 in Shanghai, China during December 17-20, 2008, and TSP-09 in Macau SAR, China, during October 12-14, 2009, The
Third IEEE International Symposium on Trust, Security and Privacy for Emerging Applications (TSP-10) will be held in Bradford, UK, during June 29-July
1, 2010, in conjunction with The 10th IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (CIT 2010), aims at bringing together
researchers and practitioners in the world working on trust, security, privacy, and related issues such as technical, social, and cultural
implications for all emerging devices, services, applications, networks, and systems, and providing a forum for them to present and discuss emerging
ideas and trends in this highly challenging research area.

Submission and Publication Information
The accepted papers from this symposium will be published by IEEE Computer Society in IEEE CIT-10 proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP).
Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard conference format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through the
paper submission system at the symposium website. Each paper is limited to 6 pages (or 8 pages with over length charge). Distinguished papers, after
further revisions, will be published in a special issue of "Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience" (Wiley) to be indexed by both SCI
and EI. The program committee will select one winner for the Best Paper Award for this symposium. Submitting a paper to the symposium means that, if
the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the symposium and present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers will be removed from
the digital library after the symposium and their affiliations will be notified.

Introduction
Satisfying user requirements for trust, security and privacy in an efficient way is one of the first considerations for almost all emerging applications, using emerging technologies such as pervasive computing, peer to peer computing, grid computing, cloud computing, virtualization and, mobile and wireless technologies. Challenges arise as emerging applications evolve to provide more scalable and comprehensive services. One of the biggest challenges is that traditional security technologies and measures may not meet user requirements in open, dynamic, heterogeneous, and distributed computing environments. Therefore, we need to build networks and systems in which emerging applications allow users to enjoy more scalable and comprehensive services while preserving trust, security and privacy at the same time.

Following the success of TSP 2008 in Shanghai, China during December 17-20, 2008, and TSP-09 in Macau SAR, China, during October 12-14, 2009, ¡°The Third IEEE International Symposium on Trust, Security and Privacy for Emerging Applications (TSP-10)¡± will be held in Bradford, UK, during June 29-July 1, 2010, in conjunction with ¡°The 10th IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (CIT 2010)¡±, aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners in the world working on trust, security, privacy, and related issues such as technical, social, and cultural implications for all emerging devices, services, applications, networks, and systems, and providing a forum for them to present and discuss emerging ideas and trends in this highly challenging research area.

Scope and Interests
TSP-10 is an international forum for presenting and discussing emerging ideas and trends in trust, security and privacy for emerging applications from both the research community as well as the industry. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
(1) TSP metrics, architectures, and models
(2) TSP in pervasive computing
(3) TSP in peer to peer computing
(4) TSP in grid computing
(5) TSP in cloud computing
(6) TSP in mobile and wireless communications
(7) TSP in cyber-physical systems
(8) TSP in parallel and distributed systems
(9) TSP in e-commerce and e-government systems
(10) TSP in hardware and software co-design
(11) TSP in operating systems
(12) TSP in database systems
(13) TSP in virtualization technologies
(14) Privacy and anonymity technologies
(15) Risk analysis and management
(16) Reliability, dependability, and fault tolerance
(17) Network attacks and defenses
(18) Cryptography and security protocols
(19) Authentication, access control, and accounting
(20) Miscellaneous TSP issues

Submission and Publication Information
The accepted papers from this symposium will be published by IEEE Computer Society in IEEE CIT-10 proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP). Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard conference format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through the paper submission system at the symposium website. Each paper is limited to 6 pages (or 8 pages with over length charge). Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be published in a special issue of "Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience" (Wiley) to be indexed by both SCI and EI. The program committee will select one winner for the Best Paper Award for this symposium. Submitting a paper to the symposium means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the symposium and present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers will be removed from the digital library after the symposium and their affiliations will be
notified.

Past Special Issues: Based on the papers published in TSP-2008 proceedings, we have successfully applied for a Special Issue in "IEICE Transactions on Information and Systems" (indexed by SCI and EI). Based on the papers published in TSP-2009 proceedings, we also have successfully applied for a Special Issue in "The Journal of Supercomputing" (Springer, indexed by SCI and EI).

Wireless communications are becoming increasingly pervasive, as the number
and spreading of portable wireless-equipped devices are exponentially
increasing (ranging from smartphones to handheld game consoles, from
personal digital assistant and personal navigation devices to still and
video cameras). This results in an unprecedented request for lightweight,
wireless communication devices with excellent usability and performance as
well as the ability to support added-value services in a highly mobile
environment - following the user everywhere he goes (at work, at home, while
travelling, in a classroom, etc.).
Besides attractive business opportunities this opens up exciting research
and development areas.
This scenario clearly demands significant upgrades to the existing
communication paradigm in terms of infrastructure, devices and services to
support the ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANY DEVICE philosophy, introducing novel and
fast-evolving requirements and expectations on research and development in
the field of information and communication technologies.
The core issue is to support wireless users' desire of 24/7 reliable network
availability and transparent access to "their own" personalized services.
In this framework and motivated by the interdisciplinary competences needed
to build successful lightweight wireless systems, the MOBILIGHT conference
will provide an international forum where practitioners and researchers
coming from the diverse areas involved in lightweight wireless systems
design and deployment will be able to interact and exchange experiences, and
thus realize cross-fertilization among the different worlds of academia,
research centers and industry.

Prospective authors are invited to submit original and unpublished technical

Publication
Accepted papers will be published by Springer in the MOBILIGHT Conference
Proceedings and made available online through Springer Lecture Notes of ICST
(LNICST). Selected high-quality papers will be invited to Special Issues in
prestigious International Journals.

Submission
All submissions should be written in English with a maximum paper length of
12 single-column pages including figures. All papers must be formatted using
Springer LNICST Authors' Kit
(http://manual.icst.org/index.php?page=conference-proceedings) and submitted
through the ASSYST paper management system (http://assyst-online.org).

"Implementation, Experiments, and Practice for Ad Hoc and Mesh Networks"

The IEICE (Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication
Engineers) Transactions on Communications announces a forthcoming
Special Section on "Implementation, Experiments, and Practice for Ad
Hoc and Mesh Networks," to be published in August 2010. With the
increasing needs of impromptu and wireless network infrastructure and
strenuous efforts of researchers and developers, ad hoc and mesh
networks are now becoming a reality. Along with theoretical research
activities, several attempts have been made on building, operating,
and testing an ad hoc network in these years. So that we can bring ad
hoc and mesh networks from theory to practice, we need to derive and
collect much know-how, observation, and findings from practical
experiments on ad hoc and mesh networks operating in an actual
environment and develop devices, algorithms, mechanisms, protocols,
applications, and systems based on lessons learned from these
activities. This special section will present the latest R&D
activities in implementation, experiments, and practice for ad hoc and
mesh networks to foster development and deployment of practical ad hoc
networks, which would bring great benefits to our social life.

Scope: Scopes of the special section include, but are not limited to,
the followings:
(1) Constructing, operating, and experimenting a test-bed
(2) Ad hoc and mesh network protocols considering actual environments
(3) Practical experiments on prototypes
(4) Issues and solutions specific for practical ad hoc and mesh networks
(5) Design of practical application systems

Submission Instructions: Manuscript should be prepared according to
the guideline given in the "Information for Authors." The latest
version is available at the web site,
http://www.ieice.org/eng/shiori/mokuji_cs.html.
The standard number of pages is 8 for a PAPER and 2 for a LETTER. The
maximum number of pages for the initial submission of a LETTER is 4.
The page charges are considerably higher for extra pages. The term for
revising the manuscript after acknowledgement of conditional
acceptance for this special section could be shorter than that for
regular issues (60 days) because of the tight review schedule. In this
special section, only electronic submissions are accepted. Authors are
requested to follow carefully the submission process described below.

1. Submit a manuscript and electronic source files (TeX/Word files,
figures, authors' photos and biography) for publishing using the
IEICE Web site https://review.ieice.org/regist_e.aspx by December 8, 2009.
Authors should choose the [Special-EB] Implementation, Experiments,
and Practice for Ad Hoc and Mesh Networks as a "Type of Issue/Category
of Transactions" on the online screen. Do not choose [Regular-EB].

2. "Copyright Transfer and Page Charge Agreement" and "Confirmation
Sheet of Manuscript Registration" must be sent by E-mail, FAX or
postal mail to the following address (guest editor of the special
section) so as they arrive by the deadline. There is a possibility
that we shall withdraw the manuscript without receiving them by the
deadline, even if we have received the manuscript by electronic
submission.
