1 Introduction

IEEE/ACM GreenCom 2010 is the next event of the series of International
Conference on Green Computing and Communications (GreenCom) after it has
been successfully held for continuous five years, namely PerGrid-09
(Vancouver, Canada, August 2009), PerGrid-08 (San Paulo, Brazil, July,
2008), WESAPEC-07(Jeju Island, Korea, October, 2007), Multisec-06 (San
Diego, USA, December, 2006) and Multisec-05 (Irvine, USA, December, 2005).
IEEE/ACM GreenCom 2010 will host multiple one or half day workshops
co-located with the main conference in Hangzhou, China. The workshops are
intended to provide researchers and participants with an exciting
international forum to exchange novel research ideas, to discuss challenges
in a wide range of topics, to identify emerging research areas, and to
define future directions

We invite your submissions of workshop proposals on any topic related to
green computing and communications. The ideal workshop proposal should focus
on a specific area, be of current interest, and be able to attract a number
of high-quality submissions. Proposals on specific new challenges, emerging
topics guaranteed to generate significant interest in the community are
highly encouraged.

The organizers of the workshop shall have responsibility of the call for
papers, organizing program committee, review and selection of papers as well
as planning the workshop program. The registration fee for workshops will be
determined by the conference (not the workshop itself). The fees will be
paid to the conference, and the conference will provide workshop facilities
including the working notes printing, the meeting room, coffee break, lunch,
proceedings and etc.

Proceedings of GreenCom 2010 workshops will be published by IEEE Computer
Society Press (Indexed by EI). The workshops with more than accepted 15
papers will be granted with a free complimentary registration for the
leading workshop organizer.

2Important Dates

Workshop proposal due: May 10, 2010
Workshop notification: ongoing as received
CFP and website for each workshop: May 20, 2010
Suggested paper submission deadline: July 15, 2010
Suggested paper status notification: Aug 15, 2010
Camera-ready due: Aug 30, 2010

3 Proposal Submission
Prospective workshop organizers should send a proposal containing the
following information to GreenCom 2010 Workshop Chairs:
1) Title of the workshop (Full name and Abbreviation)
2) Objectives, scope, and contribution to the main conference (up to 1
page)
3) Short bio of the key organizers and their experience on
conference/workshop organization
4) Procedure for selecting papers, plans for dissemination (for example, how
to advertise and special issues of journals), and the expected number of
participants
5) A tentative list of program committee members
6) A tentative website address

Each workshop should identify one organizer as the point of contact. A brief
advertisement plan should be included in the proposal.

Approved workshops should strictly follow the important dates, particularly
the paper status notification and camera-ready dates. The submission
deadline could be later than that of the main conference. But a workshop
should have sufficient time, say 5-7 weeks, for generating peer reviews.
Generally, each paper should receive 3 peer reviews.

Proposals should be sent via email to all workshops chairs. Enquiries can
also be sent to any one of the workshops chairs.

capacities, worldwide research on e-Science has made significant progress in
various aspects, such as e-Science infrastructure, resource management, data
management, collaborative computing & workflow, middleware, and e-Science
applications. It is therefore an appropriate time to document these research
results and provide an outlook for the next step of e-Science, which will
face additional challenging issues such as petascale data management, Cloud
computing, global e-infrastructure and advance in virtualization
technologies.

Topics of this special session include, but not limited to:

-Concept, definition, architecture of e-Science
-Methods and framework in e-Science
-e-Science infrastructure
-Service Oriented Architecture in e-Science
-Resource management for e-Science

[Tccc] MONAMI 2010 - Call for Papers - Deadline extended till May 14

Dear All,

due to multiple requests,
we have decided to extend the submission deadline for MONAMI 2010
by two weeks till May 14.

Best Regards,
Carlo Giannelli

22-24 September 2010, Santander, Spain

http://mon-ami.org <http://mon-ami.org/>

*CALL FOR PAPERS

*
*SPONSORS*

Sponsored by ICST <http://www.icst.org>
Technically co-sponsored by CREATE-NET <http://www.create-net.org>

***

*AIM AND SCOPE*

MONAMI 2010 aims at bringing together top researchers, academics, and
practitioners specializing in the area of Mobile Network Management
(MNM) and Service Management.

Multiaccess and resource management, mobility management, and network
management have emerged as core topics in the design, deployment, and
operation of current and future networks. Yet, they are treated as
separate, isolated domains with very little interaction between the
experts in these fields and lack cross-pollination. MONAMI 2010 offers
the opportunity to leading researchers, industry professionals, and
academics around the world to meet and discuss the latest advances in
these areas and present results related to technologies for true
plug-and-play networking, efficient use of all infrastructure
investments, and access competition. The aim of the forum is to
disseminate the latest innovative mobile network solutions for increased
competition and cooperation in an environment with a multitude of access
technologies, network operators and business actors.

MONAMI 2010 invites papers that follow either evolutionary approaches
based on current IP-centered architectures or introduce revolutionary
MNM approaches and new paradigms. Papers reporting experimental and
empirical studies as well as implementation/industry results (including
testbeds and field trials) are also welcome.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to, the
following:

* Multiaccess networks and resource management
* Energy efficiency for multiaccess networks
* Emerging and visionary multimedia services, service enablers, and
management
* Multimedia services in mobile/multiaccess networks
* Business models and economics for a mobile/multiaccess world
* Future Internet architectures for Mobile Network Management
* Management standards and enabling technologies, including IEEE
802.21 and ANDSF
* Management of wireless cognitive networks
* Design, implementation, and testbed/experimental evaluations
* Service and application management platforms

Papers accompanied by a live demonstration at the conference are
actively solicited. Authors planning to present a demonstration should
indicate this accordingly when submitting the paper.

***

SPECIAL TRACKS

We also seek papers, which within the main scope of MONAMI, address a
range of topics clustered in the following special tracks.

Autonomic Networks and Services
Chair: Symeon Papavassiliou

Autonomic networking is targeting at complexity issues related to
network management. Autonomic systems engineering or autonomics is about
designing systems that exhibit the so-called self-* properties e.g.
self-configuring, self-healing etc., in short self-managing properties,
in order to make the systems themselves tackle management complexities
that are otherwise difficult to be handled by systems and network
operations personnel. Autonomics is not only about self-* functions that
relieve the burden on network operations personnel, but is also about
implementing self-* functions for self-adaptability, context or
situation driven behavior changes in systems, services or applications.

Topics to be addressed in this MONAMI special track include, but are not
limited to, the following:

* Autonomic behavior in mobile ad hoc networks
* Autonomic network monitoring
* Security and trust in Autonomic Networks
* Autonomic QoS and QoE in wireless networks
* Autonomic routing and forwarding
* Resilience and survivability in Autonomic Networks
* Scalability and stability in Autonomic networks
* Self-* properties of Autonomic Networks
* IPv6 and autonomicity

Lower Layer Aspects
Chair: Faouzi Bader

It is now believed that proper management of available resources and the
involved services can no longer be fulfilled without the capacity of
interacting with the subjacent lower layers. There must be some
interaction between the corresponding entities and parties.
Reciprocally, the information and the possibilities of the physical and
MAC layers should be made aware.

This special track is soliciting papers on:

* IMT advanced physical layer techniques
* Advanced spectrum sharing techniques and protocols
* Cognitive access and protocol design for interference management

Smart Objects
Chair: Antonio Puliafito

A smart object allows the virtual world to become real and physical
objects to become part of a virtualized reality. A smart object
automatically distributes information about itself, enriched with
additional details on its behavior, location, owner, functioning state,
surrounding environment. As a result, a huge amount of information is
systematically generated by smart objects and put in strict relation
with a constantly updated information base. Identification technology is
one aspect of the problem, but new advances are needed to create, track,
use smart objects and allow their management in new advanced everyday
applications.

Some of the topics to be addressed in this special track include, but
are not limited to, the following:

* Architecture and design of new services with smart objects
* Middleware to simplify smart objects interaction
* Managing smart objects in a multiaccess world
* Management for the Internet of Things

Security in Mobile Network Management
Co-Chairs: Stephen Farrell and Peter Schoo

Security is a vital part of Mobile Network Management (MNM) and targets
the legitimate use and integrity of network resources as well as the
prevention of misuse of these resources for operational availability.
The dynamics in mobile networks present challenges to viable security
solutions; there are trade-offs between security solutions and user
privacy or profile building. The management of mobile networks also
cannot currently cover the access of malware coming in via increasingly
capable devices or smartphones.

In order to support the exchange of new ideas about security solutions
or early experiences from R&D activities in this area we invite
submissions of new work not submitted elsewhere on topics such as the
following:

* Security solutions for managed and infrastructureless networks
* Security in Future Internet approaches for MNM
* Security of post MPLS-protocols and virtual networks
* Attacks on mobiles and their effects on network operations

Network Virtualization in a Heterogeneous World
Chair: Andreas Timm-Giel

Network Virtualization is already being applied to share physical
resources in today's networks. It is furthermore seen as a suitable way
to move to a Future Internet allowing the coexistence of legacy networks
with new networking approaches. However, suitability, challenges, and
advantages of network virtualization for heterogeneous, wireless, and
multiaccess networks still need to be explored.

Therefore this special track focuses on:

* Virtualization of multiaccess networks
* Multihoming in Virtual Networks
* Wireless Network Virtualization
* Virtualized Wireless Resource Management
* Performance and energy efficiency for virtualized multiaccess
networks

SENSEAPP 2010
FIFTH IEEE INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON PRACTICAL ISSUES IN
BUILDING SENSOR NETWORK APPLICATIONS
(in conjunction with IEEE LCN 2010)
Denver, Colorado, USA
11 - 14 October 2010
Web: http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~senseapp

CALL FOR PAPERS

Sensor nodes are tiny autonomous devices that combine sensing, computing and wireless communication capabilities. These nodes are deeply embedded into the physical surroundings, and gather and process information such as temperature, humidity, light characteristics, seismic activities or images and sound samples from the physical world. Networked systems of such sensors are expected to be used in a variety of applications including habitat monitoring, precision agriculture, disaster recovery operations, healthcare and supply chain management. Real-world sensor network deployments and prototypic implementations are still not commonplace. However, experiences gained in such deployments are crucial for the sensor network research community. These results are needed to refine assumptions made when designing hardware, software, protocols and mechanisms for sensor networks.

This workshop aims at bringing together researchers from academia and industry to showcase their work and obtain feedback. We expect the workshop to act as a forum for the sensor network research community to discuss open issues, novel solutions and the future development of wireless sensor networks in general. We encourage contributions describing innovative work in the realm of wireless sensor networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Experiences from real-world sensor network deployment and applications
Innovative sensor network applications
Participatory sensing
Middleware support for sensor networks
Programming and debugging sensor networks
Security, availability and dependability issues in sensor networks
Experiences with new sensor hardware
Practical problems in implementing localization and time synchronization
Experiences with communication protocols
Practical medium access control protocols (MACs)
Topology control and routing protocols in existing sensor network deployments
Fault-tolerance and troubleshooting sensor networks
Antenna design and experiences with signal propagation
Experiences regarding energy management and network lifetime
Configuration and installation support
Management of large-scale sensor networks
Interconnection between IP and sensor networks

Submitted papers will be reviewed by three independent experts in the field. Proceedings of the workshop will be published together with those of IEEE LCN, and will be available in digital format from the IEEE Explore Digital Library.

[Tccc] CFP: Green networking 2010

Apologies if you receive multiple copies of this Call for Papers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Green networking 2010
Architecture, protocols and algorithms for a sustainable Internet
http://broadnets.org/2010/workshop4.shtml

(co-located with the 7th International ICST Broadnets 2010)
October 25-27,2010
Athens, Greece

Call for Papers
-------------------
It is now held as a scientific fact that humans contribute to the global
warming of planet Earth through the release of carbon dioxide (CO2), a
Green House Gas (GHG), in the atmosphere. It is estimated that 2-3% of
the CO2 produced by human activity comes from ICT and a number of
studies estimate the energy consumption related to ICT varying from 2%
to 10% of the worldwide power consumption.

The reduction and optimization of energy consumption are among the main
goals of the governments. The European Union in fact is encouraging the
ICT sector to reduce its carbon footprint in a drive to drastically
reduce Europe's overall carbon emissions by 2020 setting its ambitious
20/20/20 goals: cut its annual consumption of primary energy by 20%,
increase the production of renewable energy to a share of 20% by 2020
and make efficiency savings of 20% over forecast consumption. Recent
initiatives gathering major IT companies started to explore the energy
savings and green energy use in network infrastructure. But the
Internet traffic is growing constantly over the years (independent of
the momentary economic conditions) impacting directly the network energy
consumption which is in fact growing at the same degree. It is clear
that increased energy consumption of the Internet will increase
operational costs in the network and will exacerbate the thermal issues
associated with large data centers and switching nodes. It is safe to
say that a paradigm shift is required in the network in order to sustain
the growing traffic rates while limiting and even decreasing the power
consumption. To become a reality, green Internet must rely on a major
cooperation between application, system, network, link and physical levels.

This Workshop aims at providing a comprehensive view of research
challenges and opportunities in the coming green era and will include
both invited talks and contributed papers. Topics include but not
limited to the following:

. Energy-efficiency in wireless and wired access networks
. Energy-aware routing algorithms
. Energy-aware control plane protocols
. Energy-aware radio resource management techniques
. Energy-aware spectrum management
. Novel network concepts and architectures lowering energy consumption
. Energy-aware design for network equipments
. Green communication in data centers and cloud computing
. Energy estimation and energy efficiency characterization models
for networks and equipments
. Techno-economic studies supporting green networking
. Energy efficient solutions for home-networking

[Tccc] CfP: First International Workshop on Connecting software-intensive networked systems in today's Pervasive digital Environment (CoPinE)

(Apologies for multiple copies)

------------------------------------------------
Call For Papers

First International Workshop on
"Connecting software-intensive networked systems in today's Pervasive
digital Environment"
(CoPinE - http://copine.iit.cnr.it)

Hersonissos, Crete, October 21-22 2010
Co-located with ISOLA 2010 (http://isola-conference.org/isola2010/)

CoPinE is sponsored by the EU Project CONNECT (http://connect-forever.eu/)

The pervasive computing vision is hampered by the often extreme level of
heterogeneity in the underlying infrastructure, which in turns impacts
on the ability to seamlessly interoperate. Further, the fast pace at
which technology evolves at all abstraction layers increasingly
challenges the lifetime of networked systems in the digital environment.
Overcoming the interoperability challenge in ubiquitous computing
systems requires scientific and technology development that goes beyond
the traditional middleware paradigm. Indeed, interoperability among
networked systems may no longer be addressed statically during the
systems' development but rather must be solved dynamically as systems
meet each other in the networks they join. Hence, interoperability in
pervasive networks requires the developer to deal with a number of
heterogeneity issues, starting from the application layer. This also
calls for a supporting methodology and associated theory to reason about
system interoperability on the fly. This in turn demands significant
advances in associated tools and techniques for enacting dynamic
interoperability in areas spanning from the dynamic discovery of
networked peers and their protocols to the potential synthesis of
appropriate mediators/connectors. Last but not least, dependability of
systems should be ensured regarding both the functional and
non-functional properties offered by the connected systems.

This event aims at investigating the possibility of dynamically and
iteratively connecting software-intensive networked systems, thus
enabling the continuous composition of networked systems to respond to
the evolution of functionalities provided to and/or required from the
networked environment. In particular, this should happen independently
of the embedded software technologies. The event focuses on all the
research aspects of this effort, from architectural issues, to those
involving modeling, verification, synthesis, learning, interoperability
and dependability of networked systems. Topics of interest include at
least, but are not limited to:

* Architecture design and management towards interoperability in
pervasive networks
* Heterogeneity, scale, interoperability, run-time aspects and
dynamicity of pervasive computing systems
* Formal models for software intensive systems, including connectors
* Quantitative modeling and verification techniques for on-line/off-line
system assessment
* Synthesis of behavioral models for pervasive systems
* Model driven engineering for pervasive systems (including connectors)
* Automated techniques for system/component/connector behavior learning
* Automated interface discovery and learning
* Dependability analysis and assurance in open pervasive networks
(including social and human aspects)
* Security, privacy and trust issues in open pervasive networks
