Important note: Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit
an extended version as a book chapter in the Handbook of Optimization
in Complex Networks (Springer Publisher, to be published in 2011)

CCNet 2010 is a workshop in association with IEEE GLOBECOM 2010 (the
flagship conference of IEEE Communications Society), to be held in in
Miami, Florida, December 10, 2010. While the study of complex networks
is broad, the goal of CCNet 2010 is to provide another step in
integrating the vast multi-disciplinary approaches in network science,
with a special attention to communication networks. The workshop
solicits previously unpublished ideas on completed work and position

[Tccc] 5th UbiHealth Workshop and announcement of "Mental Health and the Impact of Ubiquitous Technologies" Special Issue

Two weeks to the deadline:

5th International Workshop on Ubiquitous Health and Wellness (UbiHealth
2010), in conjunction with

12th ACM International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing (Ubicomp 2010)

Copenhagen, Denmark, 26th September 2010

http://www.create-net.org/ubint/ubihealth

Authors of papers of high merit will be invited to submit Full Papers to
Personal and Ubiquitous Computing journal, Special Issue on "Mental Health
and the Impact of Ubiquitous Technologies".

Submission deadline: 15th July 2010

*** CALL FOR PAPERS ***

This workshop continues the line of UbiHealth workshops organized at the
Ubicomp conference in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. Up till now, the
majority of research within Ubiquitous Healthcare (UbiHealth) has focused
on ubiquitous computing for somatic diseases like diabetes, hypertension,
heart failure, and obesity. Research on these topics is still very
relevant and represents the main contribution to UbiHealth.

This year, however, we intend to expand the participation to include
researchers working with ubiquitous computing for mental disorders and
maintenance of mental health. While, some research has been directed
towards dementia and autism, less focus has been given to the major mental
disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and chronic
stress. However, mental disorders affect around a quarter of all people at
some time during their life. These disorders are universal - affecting all
countries and societies, and individuals at all ages. According to the
World Health Organization (WHO), mental disorders have a major negative
direct and indirect impact on economy and on the quality of life of
individuals and families.

*** CONTRIBUTIONS ***

We invite researchers and practitioners from a variety of backgrounds such
as engineering, computer science, pervasive computing, human computer
interface design, psychology, psychiatry and other medical sciences. The
main objective of the workshop will be to strengthen the cooperation
within the growing community in pervasive healthcare research, allowing
lively exchange of ideas and foster new collaborations.

The workshop seeks research work on the topics including, but not limited
to:

* Bio and physiological measurement technology
* Unobtrusive long-term monitoring systems
* Wearable sensors and brain to computer interfaces
* Innovative algorithms for assessment of long-term physiological and
behavioral data
* Prediction of disease or episode onset
* Decision support for therapy planning
* Tele health and mobile technology
* Interaction Designs and Applications for patient self-care
* Virtual reality systems for therapy
* Persuasive technologies and approaches for changing behaviors
* Games in assessment and therapy
* Cognitive behavioral therapy, speech therapy, music therapy and
development of new therapies
* Support for preventative measures
* Supporting maintenance of mental wellness

*** SUBMISSIONS ***

We invite authors interested in these topics to submit a camera ready
paper of 2-4 pages using the UbiComp 2010 Submission Template for Papers

advances between both autonomous systems, including robots, and new
network technologies. On one hand, autonomous applications embedded
in automatic environments have rapidly expanded from classical industrial
ones to applications where different modular devices, actuators and
sensors interact closely and on the other hand communication
technologies have also known a great growing development related to
sensor networks, ad-hoc networks, wireless networks, etc. Healthcare and
wellness applications such as helping elderly people, assisting dependent
persons, habitat monitoring in a smart environment constitute some of the
potential scenarios of convergence between robotic systems and network
technologies. These applications, which are based on high-level commands
and in order to accomplish some specific tasks, reveal new challenges
regarding mechanic design, portability, acceptability, power support,
control theory, etc. In addition to portability and low-power systems,
which are vital challenges that limit substantially any successful robotic
application, network paradigms should also take into account issues
related to cost, scalability and security. This workshop will highlight the

overlapping of these two domains of autonomous systems and network
technologies devoted for different applications. Issues related to concepts,
new technologies, and protocols will elicit particular attention.

The workshop solicits papers addressing, but are not limited to, the
following topics:

- Autonomous manipulation using service robots
- Architecture and protocol for wireless based sensor networks (energy
efficiency, collision-free, low-power, etc.)
- Pervasive communication in autonomous application fields
- Rehabilitation robotics, exoskeletons, smart textile clothes and wearable
robots applications
- Context-awareness and ubiquitous robotics
- Secure, scalable and low cost network paradigms applications
- Techniques of sensing, actuation and recognition
- Applications of Autonomous Behavior
- Design modeling and control of autonomous robotic systems
- Assistive robotic technology
- Energy optimization of autonomous systems
- Monitoring and security of autonomous systems in intelligent environment
- Context awareness using sensor networks
- Network based transmission architecture for controlling autonomous systems
- Real-time network based structure using sensors, actuators and transducers,
etc.

All submitted papers will be rigorously reviewed and we will select papers
based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance to the
workshop. All accepted papers must be presented and at least on author
needs to register for the paper to be included in the workshop
proceedings. Submitted papers should not be under consideration for
publication anywhere else.

[Tccc] CFP: IOTS 2010 - The 1st IEEE/ACM Internet of Things Symposium

[Please accept our apologies if you received multiple copies of this call]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IOTS 2010
The 1st IEEE/ACM Internet of Things Symposium

http://www.cpschina.org/IOTS/
In conjunction with GreenCom 2010
Hangzhou, China, 30 October - 1 November, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.Overview

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of Internet-enabled objects,
together
with web services that interact with these objects. IoT is growing momentum
in
terms of the underlying technology as well as the adoption by corporations,
universities and across many industries. IoT aims at increasing the ubiquity

of the Internet by integrating every object for interaction via embedded
systems,
which leads to the highly distributed network of devices communicating with
human beings as well as other devices.

The widespread adoption of the Internet of Things will take time, but the
process is accelerating thanks to improvements in underlying technologies.
Advances in wireless networking technologies and the standardization of
communication protocols make it possible to collect data from sensors
almost anywhere at any time. Smaller silicon chips for this purpose are
gaining
new capabilities. Significant increase in storage and computing power can
also be
available via cloud computing. However, a large number of challenges remain.

With the increase in heterogeneity, it has become very difficult
to ensure interactions with devices on a unified protocol. The requirements
of
Internet for intelligent interaction with the environment led to the
emergence of wireless sensor networks connected to the Internet. There
exists a
need for those networks to produce their information in an interpretable
form
and to reduce the complexity of accessing sensor services.

2.Symposium Outline

The focus of this symposium is on bringing together relevant researchers to
explore internet of things technologies and applications of sensor networks,
RFID
and smart phones. The scope of this symposium includes, but not limited to,
the
following areas:

- IoT connecting objects technologies: sensors, RFID, smartphone

[Tccc] WiSARN 2010-FALL: Submission dealine is approaching.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Call for Papers for the 2nd International Workshop on
Wireless Sensor, Actuator and Robot Networks (WiSARN2010-FALL)
http://www.site.uottawa.ca/~xuli/WiSARN2010-FALL/

To be held in conjunction with the
IEEE/ACM International Conference on Cyber, Physical and Social Computing
(CPSCom 2010)
October 30 - November 1, 2010, Hangzhou, China.

[Selected best papers will be invited to a special issue of
Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks: an international journal (SCIE-indexed).]

Wireless sensor and actor networks (WSAN) are the confluence point
where the traditional fields of wireless sensor networks (WSN),
robot networks and control theory meet. In WSAN, nodes collaborate
to accomplish distributed sensing and actuation tasks. Leveraged by
the control and mobility of actors, the networking process and
applications embrace a whole new set of possibilities. Actors may
deploy, repair and relocate sensors to improve coverage, build routes
and fix network partition to ensure data communication, change network
topology to shape routing patterns and balance energy consumption,
and respond to reported events in a timely and effective manner.
The benefits are limited only by imagination. As an emerging field,
WSAN are in need of new networking techniques, by which they can fully
exploit their particularities and potentials. WiSARN aims to bring

[Tccc] [WMCNT-2010] IEEE Workshop on Mobile Computing and Networking Technologies (WMCNT 2010) - Call for Papers

------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this CFP -
------------------------------------------------------------------------

IEEE Workshop on Mobile Computing and Networking Technologies (WMCNT 2010)
Call for Papers

Scope
The Second IEEE International Workshop on Mobile Computing and Networking Technologies (WMCNT2010) will take place in conjunction with the IEEE International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems (ICUMT 2010) to be held in Moscow, Russia, in October 2010. The Workshop will be a full day event. Continuing the great success of the previous event, WMCNT 2010 Workshop is anticipated to attract a large number of high-quality submissions and stimulate the cutting-edge research discussions among academic pioneering researchers/scientists and industrial engineers/leaders from all around the world.

Overview
Mobile computing and networking have inarguably emerged among the most vibrant areas in the field of telecommunications today. Customers' requirement for immediate response to their prerequisites, targeting on access to information anywhere in the world at anytime, has increased the demand for productivity and effectiveness of mobile computing and networking. Moreover, the convergence of information communications technology and computing is creating new demands and opportunities for ubiquitous computing via wireless and mobile equipment without technological restrictions. Considering also the diversification of access technologies and their applications that prevail in the present telecommunication environment, amalgamated with the increased user mobility makes QoS provision a challenging issue.
Future mobile communication networks offer a variety of high quality applications. Furthermore, several challenges are imposed by the demanding wireless networking environment, in terms of network architecture, channel estimation, propagation and especially radio resource management. The understanding of these issues becomes even more demanding due to non-uniform spectrum allocation, various radio resource management policies, economic concerns, the scarcity of radio resources, the inherent transmission impairments of wireless links and user mobility.
The aim of the Second IEEE International Workshop on Mobile Computing and Networking Technologies (WMCNT 2010) is to provide an international venue for the discussion of architecture, design, implementation, analysis, measurement, performance and simulation in wireless, mobile and ubiquitous computing environments. WMCNT 2010 will serve as an open forum, where novel ideas will be exchanged via bringing together researchers, developers and engineers in both academia and industry.

San Francisco, CA, USA
Nov. 8th, 2010

to be held in conjunction with
MASS 2010
https://mass2010.soe.ucsc.edu

CALL FOR PAPERS

For the reliable performance evaluation of wireless networks, realistic models
and credible simulation scenarios are crucial. Recently, in the area of wireless
networks, it has been shown that simplistic models for mobility, traffic, and
signal propagation yield results that are too optimistic. In order to provide
more credible models, traces from specific scenarios need to be acquired and
then realistic scenario models need to be developed and validated. We solicit
papers on mobility, traffic, propagation, and scenario modelling for various
wireless networks including MANETs, DTNs and vehicular networks. Papers on trace
measurement architectures and trace characterizations of wireless networks are
also welcome.

The main purpose of this workshop is to promote further research interests and
activities on scenario modelling of wireless networks. It is also aimed at
increasing the synergy between academic and industrial researchers working in
this area. We are interested in experimental, systems-related, theoretical, and
work-in-progress papers in all aspects of wireless network scenarios.

The topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
* Classification of scenarios
* Challenges in trace acquisition
* Tools for mobility, traffic and propagation modelling
* Methods in localization and tracking to acquire accurate movement traces
* Movement trace measurement architectures
* Characterization of movement traces
* Mobility modelling
* Validation of mobility models
* Traffic measurement, traffic characterization, traffic modelling
* Combined mobility and traffic modelling
* Characterization of signal propagation
* Propagation modelling
* Impact of mobility on radio characterization
* Impact of scenario modelling on performance

Authors are invited to submit full papers and work-in-progress papers for
presentation at the workshop. Papers (no more than 6 camera-ready pages in IEEE
conference proceedings format) should describe original, previously unpublished
work, not currently under review by another conference, workshop, or journal.
All submissions will be handled via EDAS: http://edas.info/N9078
For detailed submission instructions, together with format files, see the MASS
2010 website: https://mass2010.soe.ucsc.edu/
