8TH IEEE INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON IP OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT(IPOM 2008)
September 22-23 2008 (part of MANWEEK 2008, September 22-26)

========================================================================

The IPOM 2008 is the eighth in a series of dedicated events to Operations
and Management in IP-based networks. Recently there is a heated discussion
followed by highly ambitious, thus, high in risk, international research
undertakings and programs, GENI and FIND in USA, FIRE in Europe, u-Japan
in Japan to name a few, aiming at defining the Future Internet. Building
on the success of the previous events, IPOM 2008 focuses on network
management challenges for the current Internet as well as Future Internet
Design (FIND). We are particularly interested in network management issues
related to virtualization, mobility, service provision, security,
multimedia, wireless networking, and P2P applications. Topics of interest
include but are not limited to:

. Autonomic Network Management
. Managing and Troubleshooting Network Mobility
. Traffic Modeling, Measurement, Analysis, Engineering, and Visualization
for IP Networks
. Managing Virtualization and Managing via Virtualization
. Management Issues related to GENI and FIND
. Large-Scale Internet-based Attack Defense via Management
. Botnet Management or Being Managed by Botnet
. Management Issues for Intra-/Inter-Domain Routing
. Self-Configuration, Self-Healing, and Self-Management
. IP-OM Interoperability
. Grid Networking Management
. IP services and network Provisioning & Restoration
. Charging and Accounting for IP Services
. Overlay Networks: Design, Operations & Management
. IP Multimedia Subsystems: O & M
. Quality of Service Management
. Management of Wireless Networks

PAPER SUBMISSION

Paper submissions must present original, unpublished research or
experiences. Late-breaking advances and work-in-progress reports from
ongoing research are also encouraged to be submitted to IPOM 2008. Papers
under review elsewhere MUST NOT be submitted to IPOM 2008. Authors are
requested to submit either long papers or short papers (work-in-progress
reports): 1) Long papers (up to 12 single-spaced single-column pages,

describing work-in-progress (up to 6 pages, including figures, tables,
references and annexes).
Submissions exceeding the above mentioned paper size will not be reviewed
and returned to the authors. Papers must be submitted electronically
through the JEMS conference management system at https://jems.sbc.org.br/
(only PDF files are accepted).

PROCEEDINGS

The IPOM 2008 proceedings will be published in Springer-Verlag's Lecture
Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. For more information regarding
manuscript format, please visit the author's instruction links at LNCS
Springer. An extended version of the best papers of IPOM will get a
chance to be published in IEEE Trans. on Network and Service Management.
