Introduction:

 

Quality of Service (QoS) intends to provide different priorities to different users or data flows and to guarantee a certain level of performance to a data flow in accordance with requests from the application program or the internet service provider policy. Quality of Service guarantees are important if the network capacity is limited, particularly in cellular data networks. This book intends to present a comprehensive collection of QoS mechanisms for various access technologies and to introduce existing and traditional approaches to traffic management for wireless technologies. The chapters of this book may address the following topics:

·         Detailed requirements to implement Quality of Service (QoS) and methods for implementing and managing QoS

·         Identification and description of different models used for ensuring QoS in a network and explanation of  key IP QoS mechanisms used to implement the models

·         Explanation of the static (legacy) QoS provisioning

·         Requirements for dynamic QoS implementations (Push, Pull, and Hybrid models). 

·         Explanations of current wireless network QoS provisioning schemes (i.e., IEEE 802.11e, IEEE 802.16, LTE, HSDPA, etc)

·         Implementations for QoS queuing mechanisms to manage network congestion

·         Implementations for QoS congestion avoidance mechanisms to reduce the effects of congestion on the network

·         Implementations for QoS traffic policing and traffic shaping mechanisms to effectively limit the rate of network traffic

·         Link efficiency mechanism Implementations to improve link's bandwidth efficiency.

 

Scope:

·         Dynamic QoS implications in the Next Generation Mobile IP Networks

·         Study of QoS practices for Femto Cells

Manuscript Submission:

 

Prospective authors are invited to submit a 1-2 page proposal with the following information:

·         Chapter proposal title

·         Authors' titles, affiliations, and contact information

·         Chapter proposal abstract

·         Tentative chapter proposal list of contents

·         List a few references

Deadlines:

 

·         Proposal Submission Deadline:                October 3rd, 2008

·         Proposal Acceptance Notification:            October 31st, 2008

·         Expected Publication:                               Second Quarter, 2009 

 

All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. This book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global (publisher of the Information Science Reference, formerly Idea Group Reference, and Medical Information Science Reference imprints).
