To be held in Conjunction with the
International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS 2009)
Rome, Italy, May 25, 2009

Theme
-----

Many of the world's largest and fastest computer systems are workstation
or server clusters. Numerous research groups in academia, industry, and
government are currently engaged in cluster research, seeking new ways
to advance the state of the art of cluster communication. The goal of
the CAC workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners
working in the areas of communication hardware and software to discuss
their latest findings as well as future trends in the design of
scalable, high-performance, and cost-effective communication
architectures for clusters.

Topics of Interest
------------------

Topics of interest for the workshop include but are not limited to the
following:

* low-level communication protocols (e.g., VAPI, Tports, GM, and
IP) and higher-level communication layers (e.g., MPI, sockets,
put/get, and distributed shared memory)

* communication and architectural issues related to router/switch
organization, flow control, congestion control, routing and
deadlock handling, load balancing, reliability, QoS support,
topology discovery, dynamic reconfiguration, and clustered
storage and fileservers

* novel network-interface and switch architectures for supporting
efficient point-to-point and collective communication

* performance measurements, analysis, and early-user experience
reports of pre-release and recently released network interfaces,
network protocols/emerging standards, and routers/switches

Results of both theoretical and practical significance will be
considered. Note, however, that papers on topics that are too far
removed from cluster communication (e.g., mobile networks, intrusion
detection, peer-to-peer networks) will be rejected without review.

Proceedings
-----------

The proceedings of this workshop will be published together with the
proceedings of other IPDPS 2009 workshops by the IEEE Computer Society
Press.

Paper Submissions
-----------------

Submitted manuscripts may not exceed eight single-spaced pages using a
12-point font on 8.5x11-inch pages, everything included (figures,
tables, references, etc.). Manuscripts must be submitted electronically
and in either PostScript (level 2) or PDF format. Submissions will be
judged on correctness, originality, technical strength, significance,
quality of presentation, and interest and relevance to the workshop
attendees. Submitted papers may not have appeared in or be under
consideration for another workshop, conference, or journal.

CAC manuscript submissions are being handled by EDAS. To submit a
paper, go to https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=6859&submit=0& and
follow the instructions.

Important Dates
---------------

Paper submission: 8 December 2008
Notification of acceptance: 26 January 2009
Camera-ready papers due: 15 February 2009
Workshop date: 25 May 2009

All deadlines are set at 11:59 pm anywhere on Earth.
