The 2009 IEEE Information Theory Workshop on Networking and Information
Theory (ITW 2009, Volos) will take place on June 10-12 in Volos, Greece.
Located on the Aegean coast, midway between Athens and Thessaloniki,
Volos is easily reachable by car and rail. It is surrounded by numerous
seaside and mountain attractions of unique beauty, while the Sporades
Archipelago islands are within a short high speed boat ride from Volos
port.

Its purpose is to be a forum for technical exchange among scientists and
engineers working on fundamentals of networking and/or other areas of
information theory, and, in particular, to promote cross-fertilization
between those with interests primarily in networking and those with
interests primarily in other parts of information theory. There will be
both invited and contributed sessions. Papers for the contributed
sessions are solicited, but not limited to, the following areas:

Topics in networks: Other Information Theory:
------------------- -------------------------
Coding Coding theory and practice
Delay-distortion Communication theory
Security Cryptography
Algorithms Detection and estimation
Stability Information theory and statistics
Peer-to-peer systems Multiterminal information theory
Cross-layer optimization Pattern recognition and learning
Game theory Shannon theory
Biology Source coding

Contributions spanning networks and other areas of information theory are
particularly encouraged, and authors not ordinarily attending information
theory conferences are especially welcome. Abstracts up to 5 pages should
be submitted by January 3 2009, following the guidelines on the
workshop website: www.itw09.org
