Special Issue of International Journal of Network Management on

*** Network Virtualization and Its Management ***

CALL FOR PAPERS

*** extended deadline: Feb 20, 2009 ***

=====================================================================

Virtualization has always been an enabler for efficient management in
networking environments (e.g., through VLANs, VPNs, virtual paths in
MPLS networks). The recent developments in hardware and software
virtualization that emerged in the last few years now open new and
very promising perspectives to more flexible networks, paving the way
for new advanced services. However, to enable these evolutions to
become one of the core building blocks of the future Internet, many
challenges still need to be addressed. In this special issue of IJNM
we invite prospective authors to submit papers addressing the
management aspects of new network virtualization approaches,
considering the non exhaustive list of topics below:

- Design and dynamic operation of new network virtualized services
- Resource management
- Performance/efficiency management in virtual networks
- Security issues and new threads on network virtualization
- New economic models for networks providers and infrastructure
providers
- Monitoring and accounting
- Models of isolation and fault management
- Cross domain issues in network virtualization
- Co-existence/transition issues
- Supporting technologies
- Experiences and case studies
