CALL FOR PAPERS:

1st Workshop on High Performance Embedded Storage Systems (HPESS)

8 June 2009, IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, New York-USA

www.prism.uvsq.fr/hpess09
========================================================================

In conjunction with the International Conference on Supercomputing (ICS)

www.ics-conference.org

=========
Overview:
=========

Embedded systems are deployed in a wide range of applications
including consumer products, car electronics and nuclear
power plants. Storage solutions for embedded systems must meet high
performance standards, defined by criteria such as reliability, speed,
energy consumption, weight/space constraints and cost. These
solutions are increasingly based on relatively recent technologies
such as Flash and MEMS.

This workshop aims to bring together researchers from both academia
and industry to address, explore and exchange new ideas or results in
both hardware design and software implementation of storage solutions
for embedded high performance systems.

=======
Topics:
=======
The workshop supports (but not limited to) the following topics:

- Design and scaling of embedded storage architectures

- Data management, caching and embedded file systems

- Data security, reliability and disaster tolerance

- Energy-aware embedded storage

- Modelling, simulation and empirical evaluation

- Workload characterisation

- I/O scheduling and execution in embedded storage systems

- I/O execution for real time embedded control and multimedia applications

===========
Submission:
===========
Authors are invited to submit papers of at least 6 pages in a PDF file,
with single space,
single column and font size of 11 point (including all figures, tables
and references),
through Easychair (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=hpess09).

Submitted papers must not have been previously published elsewhere nor
currently under review
in another conference or journal.
Accepted papers will appear in the workshop proceedings.

At least one author of each accepted paper must register and
present the work at the conference.
