Detailed Information:
The Third International Workshop on Information Theory for Sensor
Networks (WITS 2009) will be held in conjunction with the IEEE
International Conference on Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems
(DCOSS 2009) http://www.dcoss.org/ <http://www.dcoss.org/> in
Marina Del Rey, California, US on June 10th, 2009.
Invited contributions will take a look into recent
information-theoretic results on the fundamental limits of sensor
networks and then proceed to explore the engineering implications
of the foundational research.
Contributed papers are solicited in (but not limited to) the
following
areas:
* Capacity of Sensor Networks
* Source Models for Sensor Data
* Distributed Source Coding
* Cooperative Data Gathering
* Information Theory for Data Fusion
* Unconditional Security for Sensor Networks
* Computation over Noisy Channels
* Network Coding for Sensor Networks
* Connections between Information Theory and Physics
Contributions by authors new to the information theory community
are particularly encouraged.
Authors are invited to submit original unpublished manuscripts
that demonstrate current research on information theory for sensor
networks. Submitted manuscripts may not exceed 12 pages in the
IEEE-Transactions journals and conferences style formatted for
A4 paper using 10 point fonts.
Submissions will be judged on correctness, originality, technical
strength, significance, quality of presentation, and interest and
relevance to the workshop attendees. Submitted papers may not have
appeared in or be under consideration for another conference or a
journal. All manuscripts will be reviewed.
A PDF file of the paper should be submitted electronically via
email to jbarros@fe.up.pt <mailto:jbarros@fe.up.pt>
*Paper submission deadline: March 15, 2009.*
Authors will be notified of acceptance decisions by April 15,
2009. The final version, to be published in the workshop
proceedings, will be due by April 25, 2009.
Inquiries on general matters related to the workshop should be
addressed to
* João Barros, School of Engineering, University of
Porto, jbarros@fe.up.pt <mailto:jbarros@fe.up.pt>
* S. Sandeep Pradhan, Department of Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor,
