MOBISERVS 2010 - International Workshop on Mobile Platforms & Services:
Trends & Challenges
January 5, 2010
Bengalooru, India
held in conjuction with
Second International Conference on COMmunication Systems and NETworkS
(COMSNETS 2010)
Eco-system of Mobile technology is evolving with at a rapid pace. The
widespread use of mobile computing devices is driving the growth of
mobile phone services and applications. Today, mobile phone is a
misnomer, as these devices have numerous applications of which telephony
is just one of them. In the network core, there are changes with respect
to speed, unified communication support (say with IMS), etc., and on the
user-end there is a plethora of devices. Many device manufactures have
surfaced over the last two decades. The multi-player space has
effectively skewed the mobile platforms and customized them. Similar
approach has been followed with respect to characteristics, such as
processor speeds, open API capabilities, screen sizes, resolutions, etc.
These trends have resulted in a significant amount of fragmentation in
the platforms space. An application developed for one device is not
working as is on the other right away. Such are the unique challenges of
this eco-system.
This workshop will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners
interested in mobile platforms and services to discuss and exchange
research in these domains, and also explore emerging fields of mobile
technologies.
High quality, previously unpublished work is solicited on the topics
including, but not limited to:
* Mobile software architectures, kernels and APIs
* Design and implementation of open and programmable mobile platforms
* Platform independence
* Mobile software engineering
* Novel mobile services - context-sensitive, accessory based, etc.
* Location-based services
* Mobile services monitoring and evolution
* Mobile application migrations
* Distributed systems and middleware
* Novel SoA
* Clean-slate approach to mobile technologies
* Measurements and analysis of mobile trends
* Mobile service-based applications
Submission
All papers will be reviewed and accepted papers will appear in the
workshop proceedings, published in IEEE Digital Library Xplore. Papers
must be submitted electronically in the EDAS. Submissions should not
exceed 6 pages including tables and figures. The cover page must contain
an abstract of about 150 words, 3-5 keywords, name and affiliation of
author(s) as well as the corresponding author's e-mail and postal
address.
