The Division of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the New College of
Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences of Arizona State University invites
applications for a full-time tenure track position in Applied Computing
at the Assistant Professor rank beginning August 2010. We are seeking
applicants to conduct research in computer science, teach undergraduate
courses, and to forge interdisciplinary collaborations in research
and/or teaching. Faculty members are expected to provide service to the
division, campus, and community.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in computer science (or a closely related
field), an ongoing research program, and a record of potential for
extramural funding. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of excellence
in undergraduate teaching and evidence of potential for
interdisciplinary collaborative research and/or teaching. Evidence of
expertise in database systems is required, and evidence of potential to
enhance and span the degree concentration areas (database systems,
networks, and digital media and graphic design) is desired. Evidence of
potential for undergraduate student involvement in research and/or
internships is desired, as is training and/or collaborative experience
in areas represented by the Division, including applied mathematics,
statistics and the natural sciences. The Division is also planning new
degree programs in Forensic Science and Environmental Science.
