FWIW, Fred Bauer just did basically that.

Note that we can't provide the detail on a public list; the cost of
specific venues is considered a confidential part of the contract (e.g.,
would Hilton want Hyatt knowing what they charged?). It ought to be
sufficient to use the estimates he posted.

There were several key areas where we might be able to adjust typical
Comsoc expenses and bring conference costs closer to that charged by
other similar organizations. Some will require additional community
effort (e.g., using free Xplore publication requires a pubs chair that
organizes the submissions, vs. something like $80/per person to have the
IEEE coordinate the pubs); others may reduce conference amenities (1
hour reception with light snacks vs. 2 hours with much more substantial
hors doeuvres). A quick check of just these two could reduce some
100-person meetings by approx $100 alone.

Fred provided a budget. If you don't believe that as representative,
then why would you believe a specific budget?

I.e., if what Fred provided wasn't sufficient, what exactly would be,
and why do you think it would be a better place to start? Why would you
believe a spreadsheet of a specific meeting he provides, vs. a
representative spreadsheet he provides?
