Re: [Tccc] side note to discussion

As a PhD student I'm reading along Tccc to see what's going on in the
networking community and to see what the professors out there are
thinking. I was thus very interested in the costs / presenting /
plethora of conferences discussion as this confirmed also my experiences.

What however also confirmed my experiences was the fact that Miroslav
was able to insult all female researchers and that no one of the male
professors found it worth to address this. Clearly, this post got
somewhat lost in the tons of emails sent during the weekend, but such a
statement must not go unchecked. If not Ellen, a female professor, would
have had anwered to this, it would have been me, a mere PhD student, who
would have had to answer. I agree with Ellen, that the statement of
Miroslav does not need further discussion, but I would like the male
researcher out there to keep this story in mind when they are complaing
about the lack of women in the engineering community the next time.

Have a nice week,
Barbara
