[Tccc] side note to discussion

Early in this discussion, someone included the following:

>How to attract more female participants? Possible options may include
>well prepared shopping tours, beauty treatments, visits to domestic
>cosmetics manufacturers, or similar - of course, in accordance with
>conference programs (days before or after the main event, in the
>afternoons after the sessions, or so).

We've moved on to substantive ideas about costs, but I still wanted to
share the comment that this could easily be taken as insulting to
female researchers. Female researchers attend conferences for the
same reasons at male researchers -- for intellectual content and
networking with other researchers. I don't think this needs more
discussion, and I've interacted with the poster separately, but I
didn't want it to go unchecked.
