Overview
********
Management education in India is as old as IIMs. Today thousands of
B-Schools are producing lakhs of management graduates every year. Not only
is the number inadequate but also the knowledge, skills, and attitude
required in making them employable and productive in the industry is lacking
in varying degrees across all management graduates.

We recognize the importance of the role that we and our fraternity of
B-Schools have to play at this crucial juncture of nation building. The 4th
National Conference of our Institute to be held on March 13, 2010 titled as
'Role of B-Schools in Resurgent India' is aimed at exploring, collating,
discussing and deliberating on areas where Indian B-Schools and their
stakeholders are supposed to focus on in the present times as well as in the
near future.

Knowledge creation is the integral responsibility of any B-School be it in
the form of academic research, case writing, publications of journals etc.
The academics and industry will benefit greatly if this role is played with
greater sincerity and quality.

Good management can be carried out on ethical and human welfare principles
only. Management graduates should learn and imbibe these values and behavior
to be more successful in the industry.

Industry research, projects, consultancy, investments and funding from the
industry are some areas where Industry-Academia Interfacing works. This
interfacing needs lot more strengthening and newer avenues of partnership
should be explored. Policy making either for government or for industry
should also be included in B-School activities.

This conference also aims to get views from functional areas in industry
like Marketing, Finance, Operations, HR, IT etc. as to how they perceive the
role of B-Schools in this era.
