CALL FOR PAPERS
ICCCN 2010: 19TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTER COMMUNICATIONS AND
NETWORKS

August 2-5 2010
********* Optical and Backbone Networks (OBN) Track **********
Advances in optical technologies have enabled high-capacity low-cost
optical networks that are widely deployed in access, metro, backbone,
storage, and grid networks. Dense wavelength-division multiplexing
(DWDM) is the solution of choice in backbone networks, while coarse
wavelength-division multiplexing (CWDM) is used in metro and access
networks. Many challenges remain in the design and operation of optical
networks in backbone, metro, and access domains. In the backbone, the
goal is to build cost-effective networks that are highly available and
have predictable and guaranteed performance. This requires efficient
optical network architectures taking advantage of optical technology and
employing effective protection and restoration techniques. In the metro
domain, the need to cost-effectively groom sub-wavelength demands onto
WDM channels is paramount. In the access area, the objective is to
provide high bandwidth to end users at low cost. Reliable and secure
WDM passive optical network (WDM-PON) is a promising candidate to meet
this goal. Advancing state-of-art in theory, architecture, algorithms,
system design, and hardware development is needed to build networks
capable of meeting the demands of current and emerging applications.
This track solicits high-quality papers reporting original work in
various areas of optical and backbone networks. Topics of interest
include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM)
* Optical broadcast, multicast, manycast, and anycast
* Traffic engineering and QoS control
* Equipment architecture and performance
* IP-optical integration, GMPLS
* Network performance modeling and evaluation
* Network planning and design
* Network fault tolerance
* SONET/SDH network and protocols
* Optical network testbeds, trials and experiments
* Optical circuit, burst and packet switch/router
* Advanced applications/TCP over optical networks
* Network control and management
* Multi-layer/multi-domain networks
* Routing and wavelength assignment algorithms
* Optical and wireless interworking
* Standardization and economic comparisons
* High-speed switch and router design
* Network processors and hardware
* Management and monitoring tools for optical backbone
Instructions for Authors:
Submitted manuscripts must be formatted in standard IEEE camera-ready
format (double-column, 10-pt font) and must be submitted via EDAS
(http://edas.info/) as PDF files (formatted for 8.5x11-inch paper). The
manuscripts should be no longer than 6 pages. Up to two additional pages
are permitted if the authors are willing to pay an over-length charge at
the time of publication (manuscripts may not exceed 8 pages). Submitted
papers may not have been previously published in or be under
consideration for publication in another journal or conference. The
Program Committee reserves the right to not review papers that either
exceed the length specification or have been submitted or published
elsewhere. Submissions must include a title, abstract, keywords,
author(s) and affiliation(s) with postal and e-mail address(es). A paper
abstract must be registered on EDAS by the deadline indicated below.
Review and Publication of Manuscripts:
All submitted papers will be reviewed by the track TPC and judged on
originality, technical correctness, relevance, and quality of
presentation. An accepted paper must be presented at the conference
venue by one of the authors registered at the full registration rate.
Each full registration covers up to two papers by an author. Accepted
papers will be published in proceedings that will be available through
IEEE Xplore (pending IEEE approval). Papers that are not presented at
the conference by one of the authors will not appear in IEEE Xplore. For
additional information please see the conference website
http://www.icccn.org/icccn10.
