1st GIS SISCOM School on Networking and Telecommunication
"Future networks: questions and ideas"
http://siscombretagne.inria.fr/school_2010/
28 June – 02
July, 2010
Campus Universitaire de Beaulieu, Rennes, France.
The SISCom Bretagne Research Cluster, Information and
Communication Sciences for new telecommunications services is pleased to
announce the first edition of its school on Networks and Telecommunications.
The school's objective is to bring together PhD students with experienced
researchers from academic and industry. The scientific topics addressed in this
first edition are around on the future Internet network. Given its double side
academic and industrial, the school is also sponsored by the European Network
of Excellence "EuroNF" through its Industry Club (SEA 7.1).
The Internet
is recognized today to be present in everyday life and in all domains like
education, health, defence, commerce, travel, entertainment... However, it is
generally agreed that it was not designed for such a high level of usage: there
is a need for new and simpler but more powerful constructs to allow the network
to behave better in terms of security, mobility, quality of service, energy consumption,
utilization and interoperation of new technologies.
The school
aims to clarify the vision on the future networks, through the views of
well-recognized experts from academic and industry. The scientific program will
provide up-to-date information, state-of-art knowledge, and open directions on
many topics concerning this close future now, including new architectural
principles, new routing paradigms, economical aspects, the post-IP world.
The first
edition is organised around keynotes, tutorial and presentations. We have the
pleasure to announce keynote talks from the following high-qualified speakers:
* John Day
(http://csmet.bu.edu/people/CS_People_Parttime.htm) - Brown University, Boston,
US,
* Andrew
Odlyzko (www.dtc.umn.edu/~odlyzko/) - University of Minnesotta, US.
In addition to the scientific program, the school includes
visits to industry R&D labs located at the Rennes Atalante area.
The School is open to graduate students (M.S., PhD),
postdoctoral scientists, researchers, and engineers in industry. The
inscriptions are open from the 02/05/2010 through the school web
site(http://siscombretagne.inria.fr/school_2010/registration.html). The GIS SISOM is offering 30 grants
(bourses), covering the hotel fees. Also, Euro-NF funding (travel budget) is
available for students studying in Euro-NF partner institution.
