[Tccc] Two PhD positions, University College Cork, Ireland

University College Cork - Department of Computer Science

The Mobile & Internet Systems Laboratory (MISL) has been awarded a
research grant by Science Foundation Ireland to investigate streaming
media delivery in next-generation heterogeneous wireless networks. The
focus will be to apply optimization techniques and devise algorithms
that enable cost-effective media streaming for mobile terminals.

Applications for the following studentships are now solicited:

PhD Studentship (SFI) x 2

The holder of the studentship will be expected to pursue research
within the overall scope of the research award. Applicants should
ideally hold a Masters degree in computer science/engineering, but
exceptional applicants holding a high honours undergraduate degree in
computer science/engineering or applied mathematics will also be
considered. The research area involves a mixture of probabilistic
analysis, cost optimisation, and system implementation. Hence,
applications from students with good analytical/optimisation skills
are especially encouraged.

The successful applicant will receive a stipend of ?18K per annum and
their tuition fees will be paid. This position is available from
