IEEE CCNC 2011

Call for Tutorial Proposals

INTRODUCTION

IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference, sponsored by IEEE Communications Society, is a major annual international conference organized with the objective of bringing together researchers, developers, and practitioners from academia and industry working in all areas of consumer communications and networking.

High-quality tutorials are an asset to every conference and will, therefore, also be part of the program of IEEE CCNC 2011. They complement research reports of the technical sessions by providing participants with broad and comprehensive overviews of emerging fields. There are six half-day tutorials planned for CCNC 2011. Each conference participant will be entitled to attend one tutorial free of charge. Tutorial presenters will be offered a modest honorarium and receive a complimentary one-day registration to the conference.

AREAS OF INTEREST

The areas of interest for tutorials are the same as for the IEEE CCNC 2011 conference (see http://www.ieee-ccnc.org for a detailed list):

* Wireless Consumer Communications and Networking
* Smart Spaces and Personal Area Networks
* Multimedia & Entertainment Networking and Services
* Peer-to-Peer Networking and Content Distribution
* Emerging and Innovative Consumer Technologies and Applications
* Security and Content Protection

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Proposals should be submitted electronically to the tutorial chairs before the submission deadline of September 1, 2010:

R Venkatesha Prasad: rvprasad@ieee.org
Subir Saha: drsubirsaha@yahoo.com

When preparing your proposal, please use the tutorial form on the CCNC 2011 webpage. The preferred format is PDF, but proposals in the form of plain text, or Microsoft Word will also be accepted.

REVIEW PROCESS

Tutorial proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their estimated benefit for prospective participants and on their fit within the tutorials program as a whole. Factors to be considered include: relevance, timeliness, importance, and audience appeal; suitability for presentation in a half-day format; and past experience and qualifications of the instructors. Selection is also based on the overall distribution of topics, expected attendance, and specialties of the intended audiences. Thus, not all tutorials of technical merit may be accommodated.

The information you provide will also be used to advertise your tutorial. The more descriptive information you share about your tutorial and its intended audience, the more likely it is to receive a favorable response from conference participants.
