applications for a full-time Research Scientist (Postdoc Fellow) in the area
of Wireless Vehicular Communications. The expected start date is Sept/Oct
2010.
RESEARCH OUTLINE:
=================
The candidate is expected to pursue research on the area of cooperative
wireless vehicular communications. The objective is to investigate research
issues related to Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and more
particularly to vehicular communications for intelligent and safer roads.
The aim is to propose new advanced communication protocols and applications
for wireless vehicular networks aiming at enhancing data transfer between
vehicles and between vehicles and road side infrastructures. Furthermore,
contributions to standardization working groups at ETSI, IEEE, and ISO in
the field of wireless communications for ITS and research publications will
be one of the main research dissemination tools.
The researcher will be involved in a new three year project funded by Qatar
National Research Fund (QNRF) in the context of cooperative wireless
vehicular communications for ITS and his/her research results will be
published in international conferences and journals and presented to
relevant standardization bodies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
===================
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
by the time of appointment. Key job requirements include:
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently
- Strong background in wireless networking
- Experience in intelligent transportation systems research
- Prior industry experience is an asset
