PhD scholarship on developing sustainable scheduling policies for radioaccess networks based LTE technology at University of Bedfordshire

We are seeking candidates for a Ph.D research opportunity within an innovative researchproject at the Centre for Wireless Network Design (CWiND) in University ofBedfordshire, which will be jointly run with the Grid Research Group at AppliedUniversity of Western Switzerland in Fribourg. The aim of the project is todevelop sustainable and optimal scheduling poilicies for radio access networksbased on Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The research involves thesubject areas of wireless communication, operations research, and distributedand parallel computing.
The applicant must be an EU or Swiss citizen. The tuition fee to be charged by Universityof Bedfordshire for an EU or Swiss student will be covered (paid) by the jointscholarship. The successful candidate will also receive a bursary of 13200 sterlingpounds per annum, tax free, for 3 years. The successful candidate will be enrolled inthe PhD program at the Institute for Research in Applicable Computing ofUniversity of Bedfordshire, and he or she will need to spend a vast majority ofhis/her time in Grid Research group at Applied University of Western Switzerlandin Fribourg. There are no teaching obligations.
A suitable background for the applicant is a strong undergraduate degree inComputer Science and Mathematics or other related fields (e.g.,Telecommunication and/or Computer Networks). Candidates must have a strongbackground in object oriented programming and should have good understanding ofparallel computing. The position is immadiately available.
