We are very pleased to let you know that IEEE ComSoc has recently decided to provide Student Travel Grant funds for ICC 2010 to broaden the participation of student authors, and the USA National Science Foundation (NSF) is very likely to provide travel supports for some US-based students to attend ICC 2010 in Cape Town, South Africa. We were just notified about the funding availability by ComSoc and NSF this past week.
As we have very limited time to process applications and to make decisions on the student travel grant awards, please read this email carefully and act as fast as possible, and application deadline is final with no extension at all.
Starting immediately, IEEE ICC 2010 accepts applications for student travel grant (STG). There are two types of travel grants:
1. ComSoc supported STG is provided to broaden the participation of student authors. The qualifications are
a) must be the first author of a paper that is accepted by ICC 2010;
b) must be a full-time student.
c) must be recommended by his/her advisor.
2. NSF supported STG (pending final approval by NSF) is provided to broaden the participation of US-based students, especially under-represented students. The qualifications are
a) must be a US-based students (U.S. citizen, permanent residents, or foreign students attending school at U.S.);
b) priority will be given to students with papers accepted by ICC 2010;
c) Under-represented students, such as female or minority students, who do not have paper in ICC 2010 are also eligible for the STG, and are encouraged to apply.
Each award will be in the amount of $1,000 - $1,500, and we anticipate to make about 30 student travel grant awards pending funding availability. A student who is awarded a student travel grant must attend the conference in person. The student must register, attend, and present the paper (if the student is an author) at the conference. Payment will only be made to the student as long as the award recipient submit the expense report (with receipts) within 45 days after the conference. More details will be provided to the students who are selected to receive the STG award.
