PhD Research Positions in Sensor Networks : Continuous Monitoring of
Water Distribution Systems


The Center for Environmental Sensing and Modeling (CENSAM)
(http://censam.mit.edu) is an Interdisciplinary Research Group under
the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), with
support from the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF).

CENSAM has initiated a research project on the Continuous Monitoring
of Water Distribution Systems, in collaboration with the Intelligent
Systems Center (IntelliSys) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
(http://www.ntu.edu.sg/intellisys).

This project will develop a cyber-physical infrastructure for
monitoring water distribution systems to support applications such
as hydraulic operations, leak detection and water quality monitoring.
The project involves field prototyping and deployment at test sites
in Singapore. Please refer to the following website for more

We are inviting promising candidates who are keen to pursue PhD
studies to join our research team :


1. Full-time PhD Research Positions

Responsibilities :
* Pursue PhD research on a research topic related to sensor networks
and wireless networks.
* Contribute to the research project particularly in the wireless
networking aspect.

Requirements :
* A Masters or Bachelors in Computer Engineering, Computer Science,
Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
* Good GRE and TOEFL scores.
* Must be able to gain admission into NTU's School of Computer
Engineering for a full-time PhD degree programme.
* Interest to do research in one or more of the following areas:
sensor networks, wireless and ad hoc networks, distributed
systems, embedded systems, simulation, performance evaluation.
* Strong hands-on experience in platform technologies such as
TinyOS, Linux, real-time OS, web services, etc.
* Strong programming skills in C/C++, Java, etc.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Desirable Attributes :
* Previous experience in developing system software.
* Innovative, resourceful, and self-motivated.
* A team player with good people skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
