SCOPE
Wireless communication is becoming increasingly pervasive, as the number
of portable wireless-equipped devices is exponentially increasing
(ranging from smartphones to handheld game consoles, from personal
digital assistant and personal navigation devices to still and video
cameras). This results in an unprecedented request for lightweight,
wireless communication devices with excellent usability and performance,
as well as the ability to support added-value services in a highly
mobile environment - following the user everywhere s/he goes (at work,
at home, while travelling, in a classroom, etc.). Besides attractive
business opportunities, this opens up exciting research and development
areas.
This scenario clearly demands significant upgrades to the existing
communication paradigm in terms of infrastructure, devices and services
to support the ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANY DEVICE philosophy, introducing
novel and fast evolving requirements and expectations on research and
development in the field of information and communication technologies.
The core issue is to support the wireless user desire of 24/7 reliable
network availability and transparent access to "their own" personalized
services.
In this framework, and motivated by the interdisciplinary competences
needed to build successful lightweight wireless systems, the MOBILIGHT
2010 conference will provide an international forum where practitioners
and researchers coming from various areas involved in lightweight
wireless systems design and deployment will be able to interact and
exchange experiences, and thus realize cross-fertilization among the
worlds of academia, research centers and industry.

WORKSHOPS
EUMOBILE: 1st European Symposium on Mobility Management
EUMOBILE 2010 will give researchers the opportunity to present their
latest results on mobile media delivery topic. For the Call for Workshop
Papers, please visit http://mobilight.org/docs/MOBILIGHT_EUMOBILE_CFP.pdf
*
PHYLOM 2010: Advanced PhYsical Layer Optimization Methods for
energy-efficient wireless systems
PHYLOM 2010 aims at providing an interdisciplinary and cross-stage
framework for gathering researchers from different fields interested in
optimization techniques, specially advocated for energy-efficient
communications. The workshop will emphasize practical Soft Computing,
bio-inspired, and meta-heuristic approaches for alleviating the
complexity of mobile lightweight systems. For the Call for Workshop
Papers, please visit http://mobilight.org/docs/MOBILIGHT_PHYLOM_CFP.pdf
*
UAS 2010: International Workshop on User Adaptive Systems for Mobile
Wireless Systems
The goal of this workshop is to create an opportunity for the
participants to discuss a wide range of topics related to pervasive
adaptation and "awareness of the user", covering theoretical aspects as
well as algorithms, practical methods, concrete applications, system
architectures or use cases. For the Call for Workshop Papers, please

SPECIAL SESSIONS
ICARUS: Distributed Wireless Networking Experimental Infrastructure for
Optimization and Convergence
The main objectives in this Special Session are to address novel
research results in the areas of Virtual Distributed Testbed Platform
thus enabling the delivery of new testbed platforms that allow
investigating, design and evaluate new protocols and algorithms for
cross-system and cross-layer optimization outside the operator network
in order that they do not disturb the normal functionality of these
networks.
*
MIMAX: Advanced Radio Access Techniques for Energy-Efficient Communications
The goal of this special session is to present recent developments in
the topic of energy-efficient radio access techniques, covering the
different aspects involved in the problem (e.g., RF circuitry, baseband,
MAC and cross-layer processing) and exploring the tradeoffs involved.
*
MOBILIA: Mobility Concepts and IMT-advanced
This special session will focuses on some of the most interesting
challenges which will be brought about with the upcoming wireless
communication technologies, addressing various technical aspects, mainly
in the context of Mobility concepts and IMT-advanced, covering LTE, IEEE
802.16m, IEEE 802.16j and beyond.
*
NEWCOM++: Advances on Indoor Positioning and Multiuser Scheduling
This session is devoted to the advances within Newcom++ on Indoor
positioning and Multiuser Scheduling. Special focus is given to MIMO and
Multicarrier schemes with low feedback.
*
REWIND: Relay-based Next Generation Wireless Broadband Networks and
Associated Components
This special session will focus on the development and the performance
analysis of novel algorithms and techniques that enhance and support a
Relay based network. In addition, focus will be given on the design and
development of the hardware components, systems and subsystems of a
Relay Station (Antenna Systems, Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output Systems,
RF-Front-Ends, IF/RF processing units, etc.)
