Dear Gunnar:
I very much disagree with you, as these issues are far too important to
be handled by private email. I would however understand if you choose to
filter out the discussion, although I would be disappointed if you did so.

I cannot comment on the grant contracts with which you may have been
involved (I suspect there has been many); however, at least some
contracts do include some language saying or implying that the grant
holder must -- within reason -- ascertain that any money charged to the
grant is efficiently and appropriately used. This discussion is very
much in that direction.

Furthermore, I hope you agree that any due-paying member of a society
does have a right to receive specific answers to specific questions
about financial matters,.

I would very much appreciate reading yours and others opinions on the
matters being discussed. I do hope that this discussion at least is more
interesting to you that the constant stream of conference CFP that we
are used to.
